This week, we will be making the 2 different types of squares (pictured below) as part of the Coulisse CAL. You will need to make 5 of the first square and 6 of the second square - the first 5 are exactly the same as week 1, you have already made 20 of these squares (you will have 25 of these squares in total) and I have just split them up over the weeks. The second type of square you will make this week are the beautiful flower squares and you will make 6 of these in total. Enjoy!

Yarn A: 615m (3 balls) - variegated
Yarn B: 410m (2 balls) - solid
Yarn C: 410m (2 balls) - solid

About the yarn: 4 ply; 205m per 50g ball; 75% wool, 25% polyamide,
Tension: Each finished square should measure 8 cm x 8 cm
Hooks used: 3mm
Hints and Tips: Make sure your keep a loose tension when working waistcoat stitch as you will be working into the bodies of stitches.
Abbreviations: This pattern uses English Terminology
st/sts = stitch/stitches
dc = double crochet (US single crochet)
ch = chain
sl st = slip stitch
tr = treble crochet (US double crochet)
fp = front post
bp = back post
yo = yarn over
P (+ number) = picture number on grid
Special Stitches:
Waistcoat Stitch (wst): Insert hook between the ‘V’ created by the 2 vertical strands of the st below, yo and complete as for dc.
Spike stitch (sp st): Insert your hook into the skipped stitch of the row below, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops
Double back post dc (dbpdc): Back post dc around post which already has a bpdc around it. Dc should be placed under original bpdc not on top of it.
PATTERN
First Square (make 5)
With yarn A make a slip knot (P1), 4 ch (P2), sl st in first st to form ring (P3).
Round 1: 1 ch (does not count as st), dc into ring (P4), (2 ch, dc into ring) 3 times (P5), 2 ch, sl st in first st (P6).

Round 2: (do not 1 ch throughout )*wst in first dc (P7), (1 dc, 2 ch, 1 dc) into ch-2 space (P8)* rep from *to* 3 more times, sl st in first st (P9).

With yarn D, 4 ch, sl st in 4th ch from hook to form a ring.
Round 1: 1 ch (does not count as st throughout), (1 dc, 2 ch (counts as tr) into ring, 11 tr into ring, sl st into top ch of 2 ch.

Fasten off yarn D. Join yarn C.
Round 2: 1 ch, bpdc in each of next 12 sts, sl st in first st.Â

Round 3: 1 ch, dc in next st, 2 ch (counts as tr), (1 tr, 2 ch, 1 tr) in same st, skip next st, *(2 tr, 2 ch, 2 tr) in next st, skip next st*, repeat from *to* 4 more times, sl st in top ch of 2 ch.

Fasten off yarn C. Join yarn B.

Fasten off yarn B. Join yarn D around first treble post of round one (dc, 2 ch).
